Lahaina, Maui will celebrate the Year of the Monkey during its annual lunar new year festivities. You are invited to the Wo Hing Museum, 858 Front Street, on Friday, February 12th for a full day of activities and presentations paying tribute to Chinese New Year. The museum will be open between 10 am and 7 pm with free admission.
An exciting lion dance with drums, gongs and cymbals and the new year blessing by Au’s Shaolin Arts Society begins at 5 pm. Other activities include Chinese calligraphy, Chinese knot tying, Chinese Crafts and you can learn about Kau Cim; the ancient art of divination using Chinese Fortune Sticks. There will be talks on Song Dynasty tea bowls, Shaolin Kung Fu Legacy as well as traditional music, tea cookies for sale and more. Kung Hee Fat Choy!
