The Wo Hing Society on Front Street in Lahaina will celebrate the autumn harvest at the Chinese Moon Festival on Friday & Saturday, September 25 & 26, from 10am-8pm. This annual event features cultural activities and presentations and showcases a wide variety of produce grown on Maui via a Maui County Farm Bureau display. You can learn about the history of moon festivals in China, experience a tea garden where samples of organic teas will be poured and watch a Cantonese cooking demonstration. Chinese veggie & chicken dishes and moon cakes will be for sale.
On Sunday September 27th the Maui Historical Society will host a Chinese Moon Festival Celebration at the museum in Wailuku from 10am to 4pm. The event will present a photo exhibit on “Maui Chinese Families in the Early 1900’s” as well as a behind the scenes look at Kung Fu moves associated with the Lion Dance, Chinese cooking demonstrations, a Tai Chi Workshop, Chinese calligraphy, ribbon dance, tea ceremony, Feng Shui, acupuncture, poetry, music and more. Chinese food, Mooncakes and drinks will be available for purchase.
