Early last week in Miami, Dustin Johnson referred to himself as the “new and improved” D.J. After his dramatic victory in the Cadillac Championship yesterday, there is no doubting that. For me, it was not unexpected. The trend was there…back to back top five finishes at the end of the West Coast Swing in February. And I believe, this will not be his only win in 2015.
Toward the middle of 2014, Dustin took a self imposed, six-month sabbatical from golf to deal with some “personal challenges” and focus on the birth of his first son in January. Having been around Dustin the last couple of weeks, it is very clear to me that those six months were time very well spent. DJ is a completely new man, both on and off the course. For you avid golf fans, get ready for a monster season from the most talented player in the game.
In his post-victory press conference at Doral, Dustin described it very succinctly: ” I knew I was really good. I just knew there was something missing that could make me great.”
