Hawaii’ Island is a spectacular land mass and the ocean that surrounds it offers many of the island’s most exciting and popular activities. Whether you’re on the water or in it the adventures are endless.
As one of the world’s top deep sea fishing destinations Hawaii Island provides easy access to big-game fish like marlin, mahimahi, ono and ahi. Just three miles straight out from the Kona’s Honokohau Harbor it is over 6000 feet deep due to the quick steep slope of the ocean floor. At these depths you’ll encounter six species of billfish and six species of tuna, as well as variety of big game bottom fish. And for those of you who want to see fish up close and personal plan a snorkel or scuba diving excursion to a perfectly protected bay called Honaunau Bay or City of Refuge as the locals call it. Kayaking is also a great way to get out on the ocean and experience the tremendous climate, the sea life and get some exercise.
Hawaii Island is a wonderful place to experience a wealth of water adventures.
