May 1st is Lei Day in Hawaii and each island celebrates it differently.
Most Lei Day events are free and open to the public.
The giving and receiving of Lei is a special way to express aloha between two individuals. When given Lei are a sign of welcome, congratulations, commemoration of something or for no reason at all and always creates a special feeling and bond. Traditionally lei are not gender specific and given to men and women equally. Wear your lei proudly.
